We The People - an online periodical redesign

"Thanks to Erika's stunningly innovative and wonderfully interactive design and implementation of We the People's website, our modest news outlet has been propelled into the Twenty-first Century. We the People has received numerous raves from our readers and traffic to our site has increased two-fold in the short time since the launch. Erika was a pleasure to work with during the design phase and her outstanding customer service continues with her acting as Web Master." - Gary Carnivele, Editor

You can visit the site at GaySonoma.com

We The People, aka, Gaysonoma.com an online guide for news, events, personals, gay (and gay-friendly) local businesses, community organizations, classifieds, and more for the Sonoma County gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and otherwise non-heterosexual community, contacted me. It was time to start building revenue in order to stay above water financially. They wanted to begin selling advertising on their web site and needed recommendation and direction.

After a review of their web site, which had a popular personals area but had insignificant traffic, lacked intuitive navigation flow and had a poor overall design I set forth to make some initial recommendations.

In order to create revenue for the web site through advertising it would be necessary to first increase the overall traffic to the web site. In order to increase the traffic to the web site there must be valuable content within a user friendly interface that would lure users to the web site and keep them coming back. Gaysonoma.com needed a makeover.
